The 4iG Foundation’s Digital Opportunity Programme has been launched: 220 laptops for primary and secondary schools

The 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme aims to equip public education institutions with refurbished, digitally optimised laptops and professional support. Through this initiative, the Foundation's primary objective is to contribute to the development of students' digital competences. Under the programme, teachers in Hungarian public education institutions can apply for up to 22 laptops per school.

The devices are reliable, high-performance laptops that have been checked, fully refurbished, cleaned and repackaged by experts. These audited machines can be easily integrated into schools' digital curricula and extracurricular programmes and will become the property of the selected institutions. In addition, these computers will ensure a smooth transition to Windows 11.

The programme will focus especially on schools where teachers are dedicated to preparing the next generation digitally and actively seek ways to use technology to benefit their students.

The competition has the following objectives:

  • developing the use of digital tools in the classroom;
  • launching programming and coding courses; and
  • supporting community and student programmes (e.g. student newspapers or student council activities).

The 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme goes beyond donating tools—the Foundation also provides winning teachers with free online training and access to additional professional programmes. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in the E-school: ICT Tools in the Classroom training. This 30-hour course is designed to equip teachers and trainers with practical knowledge.  The course’s key advantage is that, alongside shaping attitudes, it provides teachers with tangible tools that can be immediately integrated into their digital teaching methods and used the very next day.

"Success requires not only talent and hard work, but also opportunities. The 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme provides exactly such an opportunity for communities where access to technology is limited. Support is not only about tools, but also about confidence in the future. I am proud to be the patron of the programme and to help schools and teachers who work every day for the development of young people," said Áron Szilágyi, three-time Olympic champion fencer and patron of the 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme.

The application deadline for the 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme is 30 September 2025.

The application conditions and form can be found on the 4iG Plc website, on the 4iG Foundation subpage. Participation does not require an IT qualification, but a pedagogical commitment, a community-oriented approach and openness to using digital methods in schools. The programme has national coverage: any school can apply, regardless of region or type of settlement.
