Last chance to apply: 220 free laptops for schools
The deadline for applications to the Digital Opportunity Programme of the 4iG for a Digital Society Foundation (4iG Foundation) is approaching, with teachers with a passion for digital literacy required to submit their applications by 30 September 2025. The programme will breathe new life into old tools and support the development of young talent for years to come.
"The Digital Opportunity Programme is not only about tools, but also about confidence in the future, because success requires not only talent and diligence, but also opportunities," emphasised Áron Szilágyi, three-time Olympic champion fencer and main patron of the 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme. He added: "Digital literacy development is not just about the ability to use tools. The programme also clearly helps build community, as we seek dedicated teachers considering community use or launching programming workshops, and students using the tools to, for example, edit a student newspaper. We don't yet know who will eventually get the laptops—who will be sitting at their desks in school, the future Nobel Prize-winning researchers or Olympic champions—but we do know that the competition can significantly help them develop their digital literacy."
The 4iG Digital Opportunity Programme aims to improve the use of digital tools in the classroom, start programming and coding workshops, and support student community projects such as school radio or student council activities. The 4iG Foundation supports these goals by providing 220 high-performance laptops, refurbished and optimised for digital education. These laptops run Windows 11, making them well suited to replace older computers. In addition to the tools, selected teachers will also receive a 30-hour e-learning course focusing on practical digital skills, giving them knowledge they can use in their teaching immediately.
The 4iG Foundation invites applications from teachers at institutions committed to digital development, with no IT qualifications required. Any institution with an OM ID can apply, meaning that even music schools or special education centres are eligible for receiving a laptop. Since the programme has national coverage, any school can apply, regardless of region or type of settlement.
The conditions and the application form are available at 4iG Foundation’s website.
